City of Long Beach Unveils New Legacy Business Program

The City of Long Beach Economic Development Department has announced that it will lead the Long Beach Legacy Business Program to recognize and champion longstanding establishments that have helped shape Long Beach into the vibrant community that it is today.

The Program will help preserve the unique character and cultural identity of Long Beach by recognizing and creating a system of support for qualifying businesses that have operated within the city for at least 10 years and are significant contributors to its history and identity. Certified Legacy Businesses will be formally recognized in the Program’s registry and receive a certificate, plaque and window decal to display in their establishment. Participating businesses will have access to free technical assistance, marketing and promotional support, networking and referral opportunities and more. Those interested in applying or nominating a business are encouraged to visit the Program’s webpage to review eligibility requirements and complete an application.

We thank our community for your patience and resilience as our City teams worked relentlessly to resolve this issue.

Small business opportunities are available for a variety of contract types, such as construction, supplies, landscaping, recycling services, technology hardware, software, and even food services. Visit the Port’s Business Opportunities Overview webpage to download a sampling of products/services procured by each Port division.

Port of Long Beach Small Business Enterprise / Very Small Business Enterprise (VSBE) Program

The main goal of the SBE/VSBE Program is to promote the participation of SBEs and VSBEs on Port contracts and procurements, via prime and subcontracting opportunities. The Port has a 27% annual department-wide goal which is achieved by setting minimum SBE and VSBE participation goals for applicable construction and professional services contracts, and bureau-wide and/or division-wide SBE/VSBE goals on applicable purchases.
