City Seeks Proposals for Partners to Help Generate $1M in Additional Spending for Local Businesses
The City of Long Beach is seeking organizations to partner with the City’s Department of Economic Development to develop and implement citywide solutions through its ActivateLB program to increase customer spending by $1 million at Long Beach small businesses and support their economic recovery.

The ActivateLB program’s Request for Proposals (RFP) is open through 11 a.m. on August 30, 2022, on the City’s vendor portal: Long Beach Buys. This is a challenge-based procurement, and the City is looking for vendors to propose solutions that can meet program goals. Specific details related to eligibility requirements and submission instructions are available on the Long Beach Buys website. Interested organizations should sign up online for a free virtual information session scheduled to take place at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 10.
BizCare PopUps
Starting in September, the BIzCare Pop-Ups will be closing their location at The Corner Pop-Up (2640 E Anaheim St) on Tuesdays and will be re-opening their location at Michelle Obama Library (5870 Atlantic Ave.) Find the latest schedule at longbeach.gov/bizcare. Walk-ins are welcome, or you can schedule an appointment with one of our Pop-Up staff members with services are delivered in English, Spanish, and Khmer: Niyah (English), Rachel (English, Khmer) Ana (English, Spanish).

DLBA's Grow with Google Workshop
The Downtown Long Beach Alliance (DLBA) continues its partnership with Google to expand their support for Small Business Owners and Entrepreneurs in Downtown Long Beach through offering a free digital marketing workshop.

In this virtual workshop, you’ll receive guidance on improving your web presence, learn how to reach new customers online and grow your business using Google My Business. Google My Business is Google’s free tool for local businesses who want to connect with customers on Google Search and Maps.

This workshop will take place on Zoom Thursday, August 25, 2022 from noon to 1pm. To learn more and register for the Grow My Business with Google Workshop visit their website.

United Cambodian Community Small Business Webinar
The United Cambodian Community (UCC) and Asian Pacific Islander Small Business Program (APISBP) are pleased to present a free webinar going over non-traditional funding for start-ups & small businesses.

California Dream Fund
The California Dream Fund is a one-time $35 million grant program to seed entrepreneurship and small business creation in the State of California. New entrepreneurs and small business owners will complete an intensive training program through select participating centers of the Technical Assistance Expansion Program (TAEP). Following successful completion of the training and consulting program, new businesses will be eligible to apply for a microgrant of up to $10,000.

Zone In: City Core (ACZIP), previously known as the Anaheim Corridor Zoning Implementation Plan (ACZIP), is a joint effort between the City of Long Beach and the Long Beach community to update zoning regulations in the area bounded by Pacific Coast Highway, 10th Street, Magnolia and Ximeno Avenues.
 
The Zone In: City Core (ACZIP) project will update zoning regulations to support the development of new housing and a greater mix of uses particularly along commercial corridors in the area, including Anaheim Street and Pacific Coast Highway. The plan will create a more complete community where residents, businesses, jobs and shopping are located near each other with a more pedestrian-friendly design.

Long Beach New Procurement Platform "Long Beach Buys"
The City of Long Beach has launched Long Beach Buys, a new purchasing platform and marketplace that is free for all businesses and organizations seeking to do business with the City. Long Beach Buys is part of the City’s Extreme Procurement Makeover initiative, which aims to enhance the City’s procurement process to be more efficient, results-driven, equitable and sustainable.
Long Beach Resource Line
The LB Resource Line is a hotline that supports anyone in Long Beach who needs help finding local, City and community resources. Connect with trained Resource Navigators for assistance with housing food access, utilities, transportation, legal aid, mental and physical health & more. You can also submit your contact information through our Assistance Request Form.

Call the LB Resource Line at (562)570-4246! Calls are answered Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Digital Inclusion Resources Hotline
The Digital Inclusion Resource Hotline connects the Long Beach community to digital inclusion resources, services and language interpretation services. A team of digital inclusion navigators will be available via email and by phone on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to direct residents and business owners to information about free and low-cost internet services, computing devices, digital literacy training, and more. One-on-one assistance and language interpretation services will be available for callers in English and Spanish through the digital inclusion navigators, with language interpretation services in Khmer and Tagalog available upon request. Hotline resources are available by calling 562-570-7000 or by emailing digitalinclusion@longbeach.gov
