Building a Better Long Beach
Mayor Robert Garcia presented the annual Building a Better Long Beach development update encompassing $386 million of new development and construction activity across the city with work underway or nearing completion for several major projects.

From North Long Beach to Downtown, the Westside to the East, nearly 75 developments were highlighted. Change is coming to many parts of the City with the transformation of many vacant lots along or near Long Beach Boulevard into affordable housing, corridor enhancements through whole block developments in North Long Beach and additional housing and infrastructure projects in Downtown and East Long Beach. In total, about 5,300 residential units are at various stages of development across the city, including about 1,800 classified as affordable.
