June 2020
We are Open for Business
Welcome to the June edition of the City of Marion’s Open for Business newsletter.

In this edition, we provide information on the State Government's Roadmap for Recovery and what your business needs to successfully reopen. We share some great webinars from local Marion businesses including how to create your own website and helpful cash-flow management tools. Also read about one of the stars of our Edwardstown precinct, Winkle Group; COVID-19 has created new opportunities in the face of adversity through their Sneeze Screens. Our City of Marion COVID-19 for Business portal continues to be updated frequently.

We are really looking forward to seeing our Marion businesses open up and encourage everyone to #shoplocal where possible. As always, we want to stay connected; reach out - we would love to hear from you.

Keep safe,
Donna, Kate, Lisa and Marissa

Economic Recovery
We need you to support our economic recovery
The City of Marion invites local business owners to be involved in an economic recovery working group that aims to ‘build back better’. The three key pillars of work include: prevent losses, stimulate the local economy and create other benefits.

If you wish to be involved, please email Donna Griffiths with the following information: Name, Business Name, Suburb of Business and any answers to the following questions: Do you need any support? Have you created a new benefit? Have you got any ideas to simulate our economy?

Expressions of interest close on 7 June 2020 with the first group discussion to take place the third week of June 2020.
Support for Business
Roadmap for Recovery
The South Australian government has released its Roadmap for Easing COVID-19 Restrictions. While the Prime Minister and National Cabinet have released a national framework, state and territory governments must develop their own plans for moving towards a COVID safe society and economy. This roadmap is South Australia's plan.

Stage 2 begins on Monday 1 June, ahead of the Queen’s birthday long weekend and includes the opening of cinemas, museums, beauty salons and gyms.
Creating a COVID-Safe Plan
Have you had to close your business in response to COVID-19?

All closed businesses must create a COVID-Safe Plan before they can reopen. Completing a Plan is the best way to ensure your business is compliant and COVID-safe for staff and patrons.
Keep your business COVID clean
The Government of South Australia is finalising a training program that will help businesses adopt healthy hygiene practices as COVID-19 restrictions ease.

Up to 5,500 members of the retail, hospitality, tourism, cleaning, security, transport and logistics industries will receive this accredited training—dubbed the COVID-Clean Toolkit.
To be delivered by local registered training providers, participants will learn a range of skills, including hand hygiene practices, effective surface cleaning, use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and disposal of contaminated waste.
Federal Government Updates
The Federal Government's new interactive step-by-step guide helps you understand what to do to keep your business operating.

The guide will help you plan your recovery, know where you can get support and assistance, keep your operations running, reach out to your customers, access your finances and protect your business.
eCommerce Accelerator
The South Australian Government is launching the eCommerce Accelerator Program (eCAP), a financial assistance program to support South Australian small to medium-sized exporters who want to sell their products or services digitally and globally.

The program supports businesses to grow their export revenue and create new jobs by selling products and services online. Grants for up to $10,000 (exc. GST) will fund eligible exporters for expenditure incurred in building new capability to access international markets through e-commerce platforms.
ICN Connect
The Industry Capability Network have launched Industry Connect, their new B2B marketplace.

Designed to make it easier for buyers looking for products and services, Industry Connect is integrated with ICN Gateway, making it quick and easy to list your requests or needs.
Drive your energy costs down
It's time to do things differently, and saving energy costs is a no-brainer for your business and the environment.

The Energy Advisory Service is a South Australian service providing free, independent information on a range of energy topics. The Business Energy Advice Program , funded by the Federal Government, provides free one on one consultations for small businesses with an independent business expert, tailored to their sector.

Building Upgrade Finance, in conjunction with the ATO's instant asset write-off program can help you to offset the costs. Put energy savings on your bottom line.
