Welcome to the May edition of Open for Business. The Revitalisation of Edwardstown project is in full swing, check out the timelapse video below of the new mural created on the corner of Raglan Avenue and Wilfrid Street.

What's happening in Edwardstown?
The City of Marion continues to deliver on the Revitalisation of the Edwardstown Project. We have achieved many milestones as part of the project and enjoy meeting, networking and working with members of the local business community. Some recent milestones include:

  • Hosting monthly meetings and workshops with Edwardstown businesses.
  • Planting over 175 trees in Edwardstown to create tree canopy and shading.
  • Celebrating businesses with over 25-years of service.
  • Painting a mural.
  • Creating an Edwardstown Brand.
  • Engaging Flinders University Australian Industrial Institute to develop an Economic Activation Plan for the Precinct.
  • Stobie pole art installations, and more.

Have you seen the new mural on the corner of Raglan Avenue and Wilfrid Street? Adelaide based artist Marciano Arents from Senman Creations has been busy painting stobie poles and a mural in Edwardstown showcasing the history of the local area. 

Check out this time-lapse and watch Marciano bring the blank canvas to life.

Join Angela DiFabio for a 60-minute one-on-one to see how the New Venture Institute (NVI) at Flinders University can help your business to grow.

Share your thoughts on the Draft Annual Business Plan 2021-22
The Draft Annual Business Plan 2021/22 is now open for community consultation. There are several new initiatives in the plan which will boost the economy and support local jobs.

Key projects in the plan include:
  • Completing the $16.25m rebuild of Mitchell Park Sports and Community Centre
  • Completing the $13.05m BMX and Soccer facility at Glenthorne National Park
  • Completing the $2.78m skate park and playground at Capella Reserve, Hallett Cove
  • Starting the $1.5m restorations of the historic Coach House and pedestrian bridge replacement at Warriparinga
  • Investing a further $688,000 to support tree management initiatives
  • Investing $277,000 in revitalising the Edwardstown business precinct

Small Business Recovery Program
Good Shepherd is a South Australian Small Business Recovery Program aimed at supporting small businesses and sole traders to rebuild from the impact of Covid-19.

Small businesses impacted by Covid-19 and making less than $80,000 profit per annum are eligible for:
  • up to three hours of personalised business coaching
  • a tailored roadmap recovery plan
  • referrals to Good Shepherd’s network of financial wellbeing services and other external services and grants of up to $1500 to support business goals.
