The City of Miami Beach has amended its Emergency Measures, to be consistent with Miami-Dade County’s Emergency Order (EO) 27-20, as amended. In addition to the minimum requirements set forth by County EO 27-20, the City’s Emergency Order will include the following:

  • All restaurants and food service establishments shall close for on-premises dining between the start of the curfew at 12 a.m. and 6 a.m. the next morning. These establishments may still continue to operate their kitchens after 12 a.m. strictly for the purpose of providing delivery and drive-through services only. Take-out, pick-up, or curb-side pick-up is prohibited between 12 a.m. and 6 a.m. each day. Employees, janitorial personnel, contractors, and delivery personnel are still allowed access to these establishments. 

  • Package liquor stores shall be permitted to make DELIVERIES to residential properties until 12 a.m. daily.

  • All retail stores, including package liquor stores, grocery stores, convenience stores, and gasoline service/filling stations, which offer for sale any alcoholic beverage(s), (including, but not limited to, liquor, beer, or wine) for off-premises consumption continue to be prohibited  from selling any alcoholic beverage(s) after 8 p.m. each day in all zoning districts.

Reminder, the Countywide curfew is in effect daily from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m.
Traffic Advisory - Thursday, October 15
The Miami Beach Police Department has been made aware of a visit from the President on Thursday, October 15. Although not in Miami Beach, the visit will require the complete closure of the MacArthur Causeway (I-395), both eastbound and westbound. Pedestrians and cyclists will also be prohibited from accessing the Causeway. The anticipated closure is set to begin at 7 p.m. and last until 11 p.m. These times are subject to change.
 
We encourage you to use the Julia Tuttle Causeway (I-195) or the 79 Street Causeway to enter or exit the City of Miami Beach. Residents of Palm, Hibiscus, Star, and Fisher Islands may return home via the westbound MacArthur Causeway. Any residents exiting these islands will also be directed eastbound on the MacArthur Causeway. All other traffic must exit the City via the alternate causeways. No exceptions will be made.

North Beach Food Distribution
South Florida Seniors in Action and Commissioner David Richardson will host their weekly food distribution tomorrow, October 14 in North Beach.

The food distribution is on a first come, first serve basis while supplies last.

Please remain in your vehicle and open the trunk to receive the food.
Emergency Rental Assistance Program
The application period for round two of the Miami-Dade Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) is open. The ERAP provides rental payment assistance for up to three months but no more than $5,000 total to families experiencing financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The amount of rental assistance you receive will depend on the amount of unpaid rent.

Applications are being accepted until 5 p.m. on Friday, October 16. Anyone who applied for Phase I of the program will be able to apply again. Click here for more information.
2020 Census Deadline EXTENDED
The deadline to take the 2020 Census has been extended to Saturday, October 31.

We need your help! If you have already completed the census, check up on your neighbors, family and friends. Spread the word to help Miami Beach secure the maximum amount of federal funding to better our community through improved schools, affordable housing, hospitals, roadways and more.

Commission Meeting

We're offering two virtual lessons to learn how to face paint, so you can look your spooky best. Classes are free to all.

Jump in your vehicle with your little supermans or witches and make your way over to the Scott Rakow Youth Center for our drive-thru trick or treating and haunted house avenue!
  • Drive-thru Trick or Treat Street & Haunted Avenue | Saturday, October 31 from 3:30 PM - 5 PM & 6:30 PM - 8 PM |Scott Rakow Youth Center, $5 per vehicle
  • From 3:30 PM - 5 PM (for children ages 3-5): Journey through our drive-thru "Trick or Treat Street" at the Scott Rakow Youth Center parking lot where children ages 3-5 will be greeted by their favorite characters and receive candy.
  • From 6:30 PM - 8 PM (for children ages 6-17): Enter if you dare! Wear your favorite scary costume as you drive through our Haunted Avenue at the Scott Rakow Youth Center parking lot.

Election Season
With election day less than a month away, it's time to get ready! Visit our City webpage for more information on the November 3 General Election and view our bilingual Voter's Guide with information on the six city questions that will be on the ballot.

Early voting will begin October 19 through November 1 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. You can vote early at any Miami-Dade County Early Voting site, including the two sites located in the City of Miami Beach:

  • North Shore Branch Library | 7501 Collins Avenue

COVID-19 Testing

The COVID-19 active virus test and antigen tests (“rapid tests”) continue to be offered at the Miami Beach Convention Center. This antigen test is a nasal swab test with results reported to the patient within 4 hours or less. It is offered from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily or until the site reaches the maximum 350 daily allotted tests. 

The Miami Beach Convention Center testing facility is located on 17 Street and Convention Center Drive. The COVID-19 drive-thru and walk-up testing site is available daily, including weekends, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., except for Thursdays where the site closes at 3:30 p.m. Testing is available for ages 5 and up. Visit our 'Testing' tab to view detailed information on all testing locations, including testing at the Hard Rock Stadium and homebound testing and further details.
