The Florida Department of Health (FDOH) has created a portal to report their information pertaining to COVID-19 cases in Florida.

Safer at Home
Keeping residents and businesses safe is the primary directive in the city’s fight against COVID-19. As such, the City Manager has extended his  State of Emergency Declaration  through  April 2, 2020  with the following revisions:

  • Consistent with the general restrictions on public and private gatherings set forth in the city’s “Safer at Home” Emergency Order, public and private gatherings of any number of people shall be prohibited in religious institutions and places of worship, to limit the community spread of COVID-19.

  • Beachwalks and baywalks are now open daily as a shared use path for bicycles and pedestrians between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Before 9 a.m. and after 5 p.m., the beachwalks and baywalks are exclusively for pedestrians.

The City of Miami Beach revised its Emergency Order — maintaining the general curfew throughout the city beginning at midnight each night, but now permitting restaurants to continue to operate their kitchens after midnight, for delivery services only .

Click here to read the city’s updated Emergency Measures effective March 29, 2020. Any violation of the aforementioned emergency measures would subject the individual or business entity to criminal penalties.

Additionally, the State of Florida has announced Executive Order 20-80 , which requires those who travel to Florida from an area with substantial community spread, to include the New York Tri-State area (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut) to isolate or quarantine for 14 days upon entering the state. Violation of Executive Order 20-80 is a second-degree misdemeanor pursuant to Section 252.50, Florida Statutes.

Meals for Seniors
If you are a senior citizen 65 years or older and are having problems getting meals, please call Miami-Dade County’s 311 Call Center between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m . and you will be immediately patched in with their Emergency Operations Center to get you the meals or other services that you may need. If you are not a senior, we still encourage you to share this message with any senior you may know.

Bicycle Repair Stations
Did you know that the City of Miami Beach has free bicycle repair stations located throughout the city? These bicycle repair stations are context-sensitive stands that include all the tools necessary to perform basic bike repairs and maintenance, from changing a flat tire to adjusting brakes and derailleurs, and are designed to handle all types of bicycles. The air pump includes a pressure gauge, which ensures proper inflation pressures. Hanging the bike from the hanger arms allows the pedals and wheels to spin freely while making necessary adjustments. Users can easily scan the code on the station with their smartphone to access a variety of tutorials on how to perform bike repairs.

Florida Coronavirus 24/7 Hotline Available for Emotional Support
These are confusing, stressful times. As the coronavirus pandemic affects numerous facets of our society, it also impacts each person in different ways. If you need support coping with the events of the last few weeks, there is help available.

Florida Blue in partnership with New Directions Behavioral Health have launched a bi-lingual, toll-free helpline that connects individuals with trained behavioral health counselors. This FREE service available 24/7, provides counselors to assist anyone experiencing feelings of stress, anxiety, trauma and grief due to the health crisis. In addition to telephonic intervention, they also offer tips on how to reduce anxiety as well as mental health and community resources. 

This service is available to all Floridians including those who do not have insurance or have coverage with another health plan.  The emotional support line can be reached at 833.848.1762 .

The City of Miami Beach remains committed to ensuring the safety and public health of our residents, visitors and local businesses. As the information is changing rapidly pertaining to COVID-19, the administration is conducting daily interdepartmental calls to monitor the progression of novel coronavirus COVID-19 to ensure that we stay informed and prepared to respond if needed. We are also closely following the guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Florida Department of Health (FDOH). 

Below is an ongoing summary of updates from the City of Miami Beach.

Sanitary Measures
We are continuing to ensure our city facilities are being thoroughly cleaned. This includes the daily effort of wiping down every touch surface such as door handles, elevator push buttons and handrails. Cleaning contractors are also providing additional training to staff to ensure proper cleaning techniques are utilized.

CareerSource Reemployment Assistance
If your employment has been negatively impacted as a result of the mitigation efforts in Florida to stop the spread of COVID-19, you may be eligible to receive Reemployment Assistance. COVID-19 Testing Center for Seniors at Marlins Park
Miami-Dade County has opened a COVID-19 testing center on the west side of Marlins Park, 501 Marlins Way, Miami.

The drive-through testing center is designated for testing of Miami-Dade County residents aged 65 or older, and testing is  by appointment only . Those interested in getting tested should dial  305.499.8767  to reach the call center, where they will be pre-screened for symptoms.  Staff on site can only test those with appointments. All others will be turned away . The senior citizen being tested may arrive at the drive-through location with  only  one other person in the car, and that person will also be tested, so as to make sure there has been no spread of the virus. The call center will open daily at 9 am and will remain open until all appointment slots for the next day have been filled. For now, daily testing is available at this site for 300 people.

Miami Eats Program
Due to the dramatic impact on the hospitality industry during this pandemic, the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) has launched MIAMI EATS - a new program to help our restaurants and their employees during this crisis. Parkmobile Payments Only at Curbside Parking Spaces
To help minimize the use of touch surfaces to further prevent the transmittal of COVID-19, payment for curbside parking spaces is now being accepted through the Parkmobile app only. For details, click here .

Miami-Dade County Special Transportation Service (STS)
For elderly and those with special needs, the County offers an alternative mode of transportation that offers door-to-door transportation service from the main entrance of pick-up to the main entrance of drop-off locations. Please note that you MUST be eligible for these services in order to utilize them.

The service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and can be used throughout Miami-Dade County ONLY for those that are eligible. Visit the County's website and learn more about the eligibility requirements.

Resident Parking Rate Registration: COVID-19 Temporary Relief
We understand the challenges brought on by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has caused some level of inconvenience for us all. In order to alleviate some of those challenges, residents may park and will be honored in all municipal parking lots.

Seniors and Special Needs Community
All senior centers have closed . Any seniors that are currently registered in a senior meals program will be served meals by their respective providers based on their specific plans. View additional information under the Senior/Special Needs Update tab on our COVID-19 webpage .

Prevention Starts With You
The CDC urges everyone to do their part to help during this emerging public health threat, this includes:
  • Washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe
  • Take personal responsibility. If you are sick with a fever, cough or viral symptoms, please stay away from others, including the work environment and crowded areas

If you are at higher risk for serious illness from COVID-19 because of your age or because you have a serious long-term health problem, it is extra important for you to take actions to reduce your risk of getting sick with the disease such as:
