Today, the City Manager has extended the city’s  State of Emergency Declaration and  Emergency Measures  through June 24, 2020.
 
Any violation of the emergency measure shall subject the individual, operator, business entity, or organization to arrest and criminal prosecution pursuant to Section 26-36 and Section 1-14 of the City Code. Furthermore, any violation of the provisions of this Order may subject an operator, business entity, or organization to the closure of the establishment for a period of at least 24 hours, or through the duration of the State of Emergency.
As coronavirus cases continue to increase across the nation, the Florida Department of Health (FDOH) confirmed this morning that there are an additional 3,822 cases of COVID-19, setting a new state record for the highest daily total since FDOH began tracking.
 
Personal responsibility is of the utmost importance. The city urges everyone to do their part in stopping the spread of this deadly virus, including:
  • Washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol
  • Social distancing with members outside of your household
  • Wearing a face covering
  • Avoiding touching your eyes, nose and mouth
  • Avoiding close contact with people who are sick
  • Covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash
  • Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe
  • Taking personal responsibility. If you are sick with a fever, cough or viral symptoms, please stay away from others, including the work environment and crowded area

Drive-Thru Food Distribution
Feeding South Florida and Commissioner David Richardson will host a drive-thru food distribution on Saturday, June 20.

The food distribution is on a first come, first serve basis while supplies last. Please remain in your car and open the trunk when it's your turn in line.

Pediatric Mobile Clinic
The University of Miami Pediatric Mobile Clinic is now offering FREE COVID-19 testing for children of all ages.

Testing is done by appointment only from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Parks Facility Updates
The Ice Skating Rink at the Scott Rakow Youth Center will reopen on Monday, June 22 with the following hours and restrictions in place:
  • Hours of Operation:
  • Monday: 12 PM – 7:45 PM
  • Tuesday: 12 PM – 7:45 PM
  • Wednesday: 10 AM – 7:45 PM
  • Thursday: 12 PM – 7:45 PM
  • Friday: 12 PM – 7:45 PM
  • Saturday: Closed
  • Sunday: 11 AM – 7:45 PM
  • No groups of 10 or more will be allowed and all patrons must maintain social distancing of 6 feet at all times
  • Face coverings must be worn while entering and exiting the facility and whenever social distancing cannot be maintained
  • Participants are advised to bring their own equipment such as skates, gloves, hockey sticks, etc.
  • Bring your own water bottle (water fountains will not be available)
  • Restroom usage is for ice rink patrons only
  • Ice rink patrons are not permitted inside the Scott Rakow Youth Center
  • The facility usage will be limited to reduced programming and capacity restrictions

COVID-19 & Antibody Tests Available
Both active virus COVID-19 and antibody tests are available at the Miami Beach Convention Center testing facility located on 17 Street and Convention Center Drive. The drive-through antibody testing is being conducted daily from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. with  a new capacity of 300 antibody tests per day . Results are typically provided within one hour.

The active virus COVID-19 test is available as both drive-through or walk up daily from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. with a capacity of 750 of these tests.

Testing is FREE  and being offered to anyone 18 years or older, regardless of COVID-19 symptoms. A patient that has been tested is welcome to be retested at any time. Visit the testing tab on our dedicated Coronavirus webpage to learn more about homebound testing.
