MILTON, Ga. - Emily Salerno this week joined the City as its Community Outreach Manager – building connections, spearheading events, and generally nurturing a strong sense of community throughout Milton.
Salerno brings great energy and useful experience that should serve her well in this role as a vital bridge between the City government and its citizens.
“We’re excited for Milton to benefit from everything Emily brings to the table, including her enthusiasm, excellent organizational abilities, and all-important people skills,” said Parks and Recreation Director Tom McKlveen, to whom Salerno will report.
“And we can’t wait to see how Emily moves us forward, in terms of ensuring the success of longstanding events and programs as well as forging new relationships, creating new opportunities, and finding new ways to make Milton an even better place to live.”
A graduate of the University of Georgia who majored in communications studies, Salerno spent the last six-plus years working at Rhythm Dance Center – the East Cobb facility where she grew up dancing. She directed two competitive companies (with 100-plus students), handled digital marketing, and organized summer camps at Rhythm Dance Center.
Salerno also has worked as an event planner and social media manager, including for a time at Avalon.
In Milton, the Community Outreach Manager oversees grassroots events such as the pre-Independence Day “walking parade,” Carvin’ in Crabapple, Christmas festivities, a Memorial Day ceremony, and more. Salerno will continue these while looking for other opportunities to bring people together all around the city, whether it’s through City-led events, partnerships, or in other ways.
Her aim – like that of the rest of the City government – is to serve those with firm roots and established networks in Milton, as well as those new to the area who may not know many others here. Salerno’s role includes fostering volunteer opportunities and working with civic, neighborhood, and other groups.
Community members can reach Salerno by calling her at 678-242-2533 or emailing emily.salerno@miltonga.gov.
