COVID-19 and More...Local Update

Wildlife Wednesday and Vitamin Sea
Just a midweek reminder to take time to disconnect in nature, unwind and relax, like this sea otter. Otters sleep and rest about eleven hours a day, floating on their backs and often wrapping themselves in kelp to keep from drifting. Monterey beaches are a great place to enjoy a digital detox, with the fresh ocean breeze and calming sounds of crashing waves.

Say BOO to the FLU!
Flu season is here, so let’s go #BooToTheFlu:
  • Make plans to clean hands and wear a mask (the face covering kind, not the Halloween kind!)
  • Use the vampire cough to keep germs off (bury your nose and mouth in your crooked elbow when you have the urge to cough or sneeze)
  • #SleeveUp to get your flu vaccine by Halloween
  • Find a flu vaccine location near you: bit.ly/36b7WrU

Find more information about the flu at chomp.org/flu. Visit mtyhd.org/flu for a schedule of No Cost Flu Vaccination Community Clinics, starting this week.

Virtual Monterey Recreation: Show Us How You Celebrate Fall
Fall is upon us - bringing leaves changing colors, pumpkin patches, hot cocoa, warm blankets and cooler, crisp air. It’s also a great time to decorate the entrance to your home to welcome the Fall season. How are you decorating your front porch, step or door? We would love to see how you are decorating the entrance to your home!

Follow Monterey Recreation on Facebook and Instagram and share a picture of how you decorated for Fall. Tag us #showushowyouplayMonterey or send it directly to montereyrecreation@monterey.org. Share a photo for a chance to win a prize.
