A Interesting Lesson in JavaScript from the Heart of Silicon Valley
The County of Santa Clara, home to Silicon Valley and the computer tech industry, came up with a fun, clever, and important COVID-19 message. See if you can decipher the code in the billboard image above.

var still_alive = true;
while (still_alive) {
   WearMask ( );
   Stay6ftApart( );
   WashHands( );
   GetTested( );

Basically, if the var (or variable) equals true, then, wear a mask, stay 6 feet apart, wash your hands, and get tested if you think you have symptoms. That's how the computer will interpret this message.

What is JavaScript (JS)? JavaScript is a text-based programming language used both on the client-side and server-side that allows you to make web pages interactive. Where HTML and CSS are languages that give structure and style to web pages, JavaScript gives web pages interactive elements that engage a user. It's fun to learn a new language!

Equity Measure Emphasizes Health, Economic Recovery for All - What is an equity measure and why is it important? The state’s COVID-19 reporting now includes an equity component, which will be used (along with other metrics) to determine a county's tier. Monterey County remains in the Purple Tier, indicating COVID-19 is widespread. The metric looks at areas of a county disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 and ties moving to a new tier with improvements in those zones. Read more about the metric, formulas and how it works by clicking the green button below.
