COVID-19 and More...Local Update

Thanks to a Virtual Recreation participant for this hopeful photo. As we said many months ago, and this poster reiterates, we need to keep working hard together to flatten the curve of the pandemic. Monterey County has yet to move to a more favorable tier due to the number of positive cases. The holidays are nearing and we need to continue wearing masks, wash hands, and socially distance. Doing so will help us move past this pandemic sooner than later.

New recommendations for the holidays: Health Officers from the Counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Monterey, Napa, San Mateo, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, and Sonoma, and the city of Berkeley yesterday issued joint recommendations for staying safe during the holidays. The recommendations cover gatherings and travel, with recommended steps to reduce risk:
City of Monterey Receives Distinguished Award for Financial Reporting
The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to the City of Monterey by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2019. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and receiving this honor represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
