Dolphin Awareness Month and Wildlife Wednesday
Did you know that the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary is home to 27 species of whales? Pictured is a rare photo of two dolphin species breaching together! Dolphin species that visit Monterey Bay include Pacific white-sided dolphins, Risso's dolphins, northern right whale dolphins, common dolphins, bottlenose dolphins, Dall's porpoises and harbor porpoises. They can be seen year round on whale watching tours, and sometimes you can see "super pods" in the thousands! What a sight! Follow us at @CityofMonterey Instagram for more photos of wildlife, natural beauty, historic sites and City services. Photo by @marinelifetourism via Instagram.
