Heartfelt Community Messages Shared on the "Tree of Hearts"
Over the weekend we stopped by the City's "Tree of Hearts" display at Friendly Plaza near Colton Hall and found many heartwarming messages from the community. Here are a few photos of some of them:
There are more hearts to write messages on. The display is up through April 13.
Complete Streets Survey - help us define a vision for Monterey
Planning and Traffic Engineering staff are working on a strategy and vision to continue the multi-model plan for Monterey. The term "Complete Streets" refers to streets designed and operated to enable safe use and support mobility for all users. Those include people of all ages and abilities, regardless of whether they are traveling as drivers, pedestrians, bicyclists, or public transportation riders.

We encourage community members to participate and take the survey. The purpose of this survey is to receive feedback on how Monterey should plan its transportation network to accommodate all modes of transportation - by asking about your personal travel patterns and how you think those may change in the future.
Franklin Street Storm Drain Extension Project - Stewardship in Action
The Engineering Office is busy with Franklin Street storm drain upgrades that will reduce pollutants flowing into the bay from stormwater. A filtration device removes trash and debris down to 5mm in size - smaller than a cigarette butt. This project includes a phase 2 to start this summer to upgrade Franklin St intersections and ADA compliance at Tyler, Washington, Adams, Figueroa, and Cortes streets. Postcards will be delivered to neighbors near the project. Learn more at
