International Firefighters Day and Wildfire Preparedness Week
On International Firefighters Day, we extend our appreciation to our local Monterey firefighters for your dedication, commitment and sacrifices for our community. On top of their regular jobs, they are also helping vaccinate residents and have stepped in to help during our state’s dangerous fire seasons. We also salute those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for providing protection to our communities across the world.

Because this is also Wildfire Preparedness Week, we urge you to make sure you and your family are wildfire ready. Fighting and preventing wildfires is a community effort!

What can you do to stay prepared and protected against the threat of wildfires?
  • Maintain landscaping and regularly clear lawn debris
  • Keep firewood 30 ft. away from your house
  • Have two routes out of your neighborhood
  • Make a plan for your pets and livestock

Vaccination 4-1-1
Stay on target Monterey and California! We’re set to fully reopen on June 15th and more Californians getting vaccinated is our only hope. Vaccinations are our galaxy’s safest and most effective protection from the Empire of vaccine preventable diseases, including the deadly coronavirus. Your lightsaber arm might be sore for a couple of days, but the immunization force will soon be with you!
