Update on Emergency Rental Assistance Program
Since April 16, 2021, the City of Monterey, through the partnership with Monterey County and the United Way of Monterey County, has issued 99 payments for rent and utilities to applicants impacted economically by Covid-19 totaling $207,289.85. Prior to this program, the original program started last year, dispersed $800,000 to assist 119 households.
Pavement Condition Index (PCI) keeps improving thanks to your support - see the summer road paving map
Measure S, P, and X have helping move our road conditions from a rating of 58 (poor/good) to a rating of 69 (good/very good). This is called Pavement Condition Index (PCI). We appreciate all the support with the tax measures - the positive results are showing! After the summer road repair, the condition index will be even greater, and we will post an updated report. We also created a new map showing the work to be completed by the end of summer. See both at
Traffic alert: A contractor will be working at the following signalized intersections this week:
  • Tuesday 5/25- Pacific@Soledad: The signal will be dark from 9:00am to 11:00am and on flash from 11:00am to 1:00pm.
  • Wednesday 5/26- Foam@Cannery Row: The signal will be dark from 9:00am to 1:00pm and on flash from 1:00pm to 13:30pm.

They will place advance signs and stop signs at the intersection.
Charge Your Ride: Home Electric Vehicle Charger and Electric Panel Rebate Program
According to Central Coast Community Energy (3CE), if you haven't already electrified your ride by purchasing or leasing a new or used electric vehicle (EV), it is likely that you soon will. Now is a great time to install an EV charger at your home, even if you don't yet own an EV. Program funds are designed to cover a majority of the cost of a network-enabled home EV charger unit plus most costs associated with any related electric updates or panel replacement.
City of Monterey community partner, ECHO Housing Webinar, Prohibitions on Evictions & Tenant Protections, Wed., May 26
ECHO is hosting webinars to inform the public, particularly tenants and property owners, about the County's Eviction Moratorium, the Tenant Protections Act of 2019, the Tenant Relief Act of 2020, and SB 91. The following webinar provides information regarding the halt on evictions put in place by State protections.

Here's this week's schedule at Montage Health for vaccine clinics for ages 12 and older - Please choose an appointment for the Pfizer vaccine for those ages 12-17. Minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Please bring a photo ID with proof of residency and age.
