"Sanctuary" Kelp Sculpture on Cannery Row

The stormy skies have brought some really nice photo-taking opportunities. Here's a photo taken during the weekend storm. Designed as kelp fronds, the "Sanctuary" sculpture sits near San Carlos Beach Park at the entrance to Cannery Row. The sculpture was dedicated in 2001. The sign provides a little more detail.

Open City Council Seat Vacancy Filled

At the City Council Special meeting on December 12, 2022, the Council conducted interviews of all qualified applicants for the vacant Council position, deliberated, selected, and appointed Gene "Gino" Garcia to the vacant at-large Council seat. Mr. Garcia was sworn in and installed on the Council. Details of the process are available at https://haveyoursaymonterey.org/councilvacancy2022

Winter Break Programs in Recreation and at the Monterey Sports Center

Children are invited to take part in fun-filled School Break Programs. Recreation leaders will supervise children in theme based activities. Arts, crafts, cooking, games, music and movement, and much, much more are planned.

Holiday Ornaments Celebrate Monterey's History

The Monterey Public Library and Colton Hall Museum are offering a set of three holiday ornaments for $25.00. The package of three includes one depicting Colton Hall Museum, one of the Presidio of Monterey Museum, and one of Pacific Biological Lab on Cannery Row. Pick up a set during Library or Museums regular business hours and enjoy them for yourself or as a gift!

Holiday Happenings in Monterey - Monterey Police and Fire will be at "Christmas on the Wharf" for a special Holiday Safety Afternoon, Sat., December 17 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
