Your December 8, 2019 Morgan Hill Weekly 411
Happy Holiday Season Morgan Hill!

We'll be getting a break from the rain this week which means it will be a great time for all of us to assist with helping to clear storm drains that may be blocked by leaves and other debris. This will greatly decrease the chance of future flooding for you and your neighbors. When we all do our part it makes a big difference.

Safety in Morgan Hill is always is a top priority. The Morgan Hill Fire Department, South Santa Clara County Fire District and CAL FIRE are asking the public to take steps to have a fire safe holiday. Holiday decoration fires are most likely to happen in the living room, family room or den. Almost half of all home decoration fires are started by candles, mostly because the decorations were placed too close to a heat source. To ensure a safe and happy holiday season firefighters are reminding the public of basic safety tips .

Another safety-related program is the December 14 Gun Buy Back event, an excellent opportunity to get unwanted weapons out of homes and away from the hands of criminals, mentally unstable people, and children. Hear Morgan Hill Police's Chief Swing and Gilroy Police's Chief Smithee talk about the program and details for taking advantage of the Buy Back program.

Have a wonderful week ahead. Stay dry and enjoy the holiday season!

Accessible Adult Fitness Course at Galvan Park

As part of its commitment to healthy living, The Walt Disney Company has teamed up with the National Recreation and Park Association on Meet Me at the Park — a program that provides opportunities for new, inclusive play spaces that increase physical activity and play for children and families across the country. The collaboration is an opportunity to give back to the places that shape so much of our lives and inspire kids and families to lead active and healthy lifestyles.

The City of Morgan Hill received a $30,000 National Parks and Recreation Association Meet Me at the Park grant and committed $30,000 in matching funds from park impact fees to install an accessible adult fitness course at Galvan Park. The new fitness course will encourage an active lifestyle for children and their families, including individuals with physical and cognitive disabilities.
