You may have noticed water being released from Anderson Dam this week. This was a controlled release by Valley Water (previously Santa Clara Valley Water District) who operates the dam and reservoir. Anderson Reservoir is currently operated to reduce the chance of the reservoir level exceeding its storage limit of 58 percent, set by the California Division of Safety of Dams. This restriction is a safety measure that is in effect because of the dam's seismic deficiencies. Read the full press release from Valley Water.

The City of Morgan Hill has partnered with the CET Immigration and Citizenship Program to offer Free Immigration Assistance at the Community and Cultural Center.  The first clinic will be offered this Tuesday, February 12 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.. VTA is conducting community engagement on a

Why?
To help improve the transit agency's long-term financial stability, VTA must find an appropriate and difficult balance between spending its fixed budget on ridership and coverage goals. These service modifications have the potential to save VTA approximately $15 million annually, while investing service in high-frequency routes and seamless connections to BART service when it opens.
The draft 2019 New Transit Service Plan is VTA staff's proposal for how to implement the Board's recent direction:
  • keep bus and light rail services at levels comparable to present service levels
  • place greater emphasis on serving and increasing VTA riders; and
  • minimize service reductions affecting residents in South Santa Clara County.
What's next... and where VTA can use your help!

Over the next two months, VTA will hold six community meetings to collect input on the draft  2019 New Transit Service Plan. Meetings will feature a presentation from VTA staff and opportunities for the public to ask questions and provide input to the VTA planning process. VTA will also be meeting with community organizations and neighborhood groups to discuss the plan.

We'd love your help in promoting our 2019 New Transit Service Plan website. The public can:

  • Learn more about the proposed service impacts
  • Get information and/or attend a community meeting
  • Fill out a comment form with feedback or questions

WATERING IS LIMITED TO
WEDNESDAYS ONLY

Water is always a precious resource in Morgan Hill and with this in mind, our permanent watering restrictions have been designed to best manage the City's potable water supply. These restrictions will help us avoid or minimize the effects of drought, climate change and the unreliability of the imported water infrastructure that serves the City of Morgan Hill.
From November 1, 2018 through March 31, 2019, watering is limited to Wednesdays only.

  • Irrigation is allowed before 9 AM or after 7 PM
  • Watering is limited to no more than 15 minutes per station
  • Watering returns to the three day a week schedule on April 1, 2018
Complete rules and restrictions can be found in   Water Waste Ordinance No. 2236. Customers can report water waste  online or by calling the Water Waste Hotline at 408-310-4195. For more information, visit  mhvalueswater.com, email  [email protected] or call 408-310-4169. Thank you for conserving water!

DEVELOPMENTAL ASSET
OF THE MONTH

Asset #1 - FAMILY SUPPORT

Tips to Help You Implement Asset #1: Family Support
  • Spend time with your youth doing an activity together such as: listen to music together, take a walk or just hang out and get to know your youth
  • Give your youth meaningful roles in the home or ask them for their advice about an important matter at home.
  • Know your youth's friends and their parents.
  • Ask how their day was or maybe follow up with a past conversation to see how they are doing.
Visit the  Developmental-Asset-a-Month Calendar  for more tips!
Developmental assets are the positive values, relationships, skills and experiences that help youth and teens thrive. Young people with high asset levels are most likely to make healthy choices, while those with lower asset levels are more likely to get involved with negative or risky behaviors like violence, trouble in school, drug and alcohol use and more. The Search Institute of Minneapolis created the developmental assets framework. For more information, visit  www.search-institute.org
