Your July 1, 2019 Morgan Hill Weekly 411
Happy 4th of July Morgan Hill!
Morgan Hill's biggest celebration of the year is just a few days away. We hope you will participate this week in all the festive opportunities to celebrate our nation's birth, as well as Morgan Hill's incredible community spirit. Please visit the Freedom Fest website for all the details about the events starting Wednesday evening with the Patriotic Sing and ending Thursday night with a brilliant "bang" at Fireworks on the Green .

The City would like to give a great big shout out to all the amazing volunteers that make our incredible 4th of July celebrations possible. Without the tireless work of so many awesome volunteers in our community we would not continue to have our own, truly special, Morgan Hill Celebration. We are the envy of many communities! Thank you to all who make this happen!
As you celebrate the 4th, as only Morgan Hill can do, we wanted to remind you that fireworks are illegal in Morgan Hill, this includes "Safe and Sane" fireworks purchased legally in another city.

We all enjoy a good fireworks show and recognize them as an important part of our 4th of July celebrations. At the same time, we also love our open spaces, our homes, our pets, and our first responders.

Fireworks have resulted in brush fires, damaged homes, missing pets, and unnecessary injuries in the past. Our surrounding hills are very dry and every illegal firework poses a significant threat to the safety of our community.

The Morgan Hill Police and Fire have adopted a “zero tolerance” policy for illegal fireworks and will be actively patrolling on the 4th for violations. The use and or possession of illegal fireworks will result in triple the fines between July 1 - 7: 1st violation is $300, 2nd violation is $600, and 3rd violation is $1,500.

We encourage the community to enjoy the Fireworks on the Green at the Outdoor Sports Center put on by Independence Day Celebrations (IDC) as one of the events of the Freedom Fest.
The regular City Council meeting scheduled for this Wednesday, July 3rd, has been cancelled. The next City Council meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 17th at 7:00 PM. The Planning Commission meeting for July 9th has also been cancelled.

We will not have a Weekly 411 for the week of July 7th/8th. Look for the next Weekly 411 for the week of July 14th/15th.

Have a wonderful week ahead. We look forward to your ongoing participation and engagement in all aspects of Morgan Hill community and government life.

City of Morgan Hill Recreation Guide
Current Watering Schedule
Water is always a precious resource in Morgan Hill and with this in mind, our permanent watering restrictions have been designed to best manage the City's potable water supply. These restrictions will help us avoid or minimize the effects of drought, climate change and the unreliability of the imported water infrastructure that serves the City of Morgan Hill.

Complete rules and restrictions can be found in  Water Waste Ordinance No. 2236 .

Customers can report water waste  online  or by calling the Water Waste Hotline at 408-310-4195.
