Your July 22, 2019 Morgan Hill Weekly 411
Happy Monday Morgan Hill!

Did you take time this past week to prepare for emergencies and PG&E Power Safety Shut Downs ? We hope so. Remember, being prepared is your best defense!

Last Wednesday, the California High Speed Rail Authority made a presentation to the City Council on their staff's recommendation for the preferred alignment. The presentation can be viewed at the beginning of the City Council meeting video.

Tuesday, July 23 at 6:00 pm there will be a community workshop with the Planning Commission to discuss land use standards for potential future cannabis uses. Land use is the only area that will be discussed at this meeting. No decisions have been made on allowing commercial cannabis in Morgan Hill.

The City Council will hold its Mid Year Goals Review this Friday, July 26 from 9:00 am - approximately 4:00 pm. The community is invited and encouraged to attend. The meeting will be live streamed, broadcast on Channel 17 and available on video after the fact.

The City Council Meetings for the month of August have been cancelled. The next regular City Council meeting will be held on Wednesday, September.

Enjoy these last few weeks before school is back in session!

Community Workshop on Land Use Standards for Potential Future Cannabis Uses
6:00PM
City Council Chamber
17555 Peak Avenue

The Morgan Hill Planning Commission will be discussing land use standards for potential future cannabis uses at a public workshop at 6 pm on July 23, 2019. Specifically, the discussion will be what zones are appropriate for different types of cannabis uses and whether buffer distance requirements for potential cannabis uses should exceed state required distances and if so, how much. The regular monthly Planning Commission meeting will start at 7 pm at the conclusion of the workshop.

Background: On February 27, 2019 City Council heard from law enforcement officials, cannabis experts and community members regarding the possibilities for cannabis business in Morgan Hill. The Council ultimately directed staff to report back with potential ordinance options and answers to council questions about retail, manufacturing and testing. This workshop is a first step to developing a draft ordinance for future consideration regarding the location of potential cannabis businesses within the City should City Council choose to allow such uses at a future date.

For more information, please attend the workshop, view the workshop online, view the workshop on Channel 17 or contact the Development Services Department at 408-778-6480 .
