Your June 9, 2019 Morgan Hill Weekly 411
Happy Summer Morgan Hill!

Congratulations to all of our Morgan Hill graduates! We sincerely wish you all the best as you pursue your future endeavors!

Hot summer weather is here and with that we wanted to remind you that Morgan Hill's Cooling Center's are open. Please remember to check on family and friends that may be at risk for heat related health issues due to age or medical conditions.

THE THREATS OF WILDFIRE AND EXTREME WEATHER IN CALIFORNIA ARE REAL To help protect customers and communities during extreme weather events, electric power may be shut off for public safety in an effort to prevent a wildfire.  PG&E is asking customers to be prepared for Public Safety Power Shutoffs this summer. During a Public Safety Power Shutoff you may be without power for up to five (5) days. Please review the tips below to prepare for power shut offs.

What can I do to prepare for a Public Safety Power Shutoff?

It is important to prepare an emergency plan in advance in the event your family is affected by a power shutoff – or any other emergency.

  • Have a personal safety plan in place for every member of your household (including pets).

  • Plan for any medical needs like medications that need to be refrigerated or devices that require power.

  • Build or restock your emergency supply kit, including food, water, flashlights, a radio, fresh batteries, first aid supplies and cash.

  • Identify backup charging methods for phones.

  • Learn how to manually open your garage door.

  • If you own a backup generator, ensure it is ready to safely operate.

We encourage the whole community to take the preparation for Public Safety Power Shutoffs very seriously. We live in an at risk area for wildfire and we will likely experience shutoffs this summer. For more information visit https://prepareforpowerdown.com

On a lighter note, the Friday Night Music Series begins this coming Friday, June 14 at 6PM. We hope to see you there enjoying our Downtown Amphitheater with family and friends.

Have a great week ahead. As always, we look forward to your ongoing participation in all aspects of community and government life here in Morgan Hill.
