Your Morgan Hill Weekly 411
News for the Week of February 22, 2021
Friends, neighbors, and fellow community members,

It is with mixed emotion that I share with all of you that I will be leaving my role as the Communications and Engagement Director for the City of Morgan Hill at the end of February. February 26th will be my last day. Let me share that it has been my sincere honor to serve Morgan Hill, a community I very much love, for the past 14 years in my various roles with the City of Morgan Hill.

While it is truly bittersweet to leave Morgan Hill, I couldn’t be happier about the opportunity
I have ahead with the Davenport Institute for Public Engagement and Civic Leadership as their new Executive Director. This is a positive next step that makes a lot of sense at this point in my career and allows me to continue to do important work in the area of public engagement.

For the interim, Michelle Bigelow will be taking over most of my responsibilities. Most of you know her, but if you don’t you will find her delightful to work with. She and I have been working closely together for the past 1 ½ years and she is excellent. Michelle can be reached at michelle.bigelow@morganhill.ca.gov.

I will miss serving the community in this way, but I look forward to being an engaged Morgan Hill community member. As always, I encourage everyone to engage and be involved with our local government. We are so fortunate in Morgan Hill to have a city government that is truly accessible to its residents. Take advantage of that! When we all work together in a respectful and collaborative manner the entire community benefits!

Take good care Morgan Hill and be well!

Sincerely,
Maureen Tobin

Community Input Survey for Children's Outdoor Bill of Rights

Across the country there is an exciting movement called the Children’s Outdoor Bill of Rights. A Children’s Outdoor Bill of Rights is a summary of the essential “rights” to nature and the outdoors that every child deserves to have as they grow up. The Santa Clara County Public Health is developing their very own Santa Clara County Children’s Outdoor Bill of Rights because they believe that every child should have the right to play, explore, discover, adventure, and learn about the natural world.

They are surveying parents, caregivers and community members who work with youth in Santa Clara County to learn about how they like to spend time outdoors. Will you be a part of this project and help by taking a short survey? Your opinions are important.

Both survey links provide the opportunity to take the survey in English, Spanish or Vietnamese. The surveys will be open until February 25th
