Housing Study

The City of Plymouth’s 2023-2026 Strategic Plan prioritizes a Comprehensive Housing Strategy. Formed in early 2023, the Ad-Hoc Housing Committee aimed to guide housing development over the next decade, completing their work in December 2024. Key objectives include:

  • Identifying areas for housing development within city limits and surrounding areas.
  • Creating a strategic plan emphasizing housing for seniors and the manufacturing workforce, with a goal of 500 new units, including multi-family, two-family, condominiums, and single-family residences.
  • Identifying funding opportunities to support housing growth.

From March 2023 to May 2024, the committee collected data, researched best practices, and engaged stakeholders. They also proposed the R-6 zoning district. In June 2024, Plymouth partnered with Redevelopment Resources to draft the 2024 Housing Study, using the committee’s research. Key findings from the study include:

  • A need for diverse housing options across all price points.
  • A current demand for 399 housing units.
  • A projected need for 681 to 981 additional units from 2025 to 2029.

Fire Department Update:

Adopt a Hydrant

Why should you adopt the closest fire hydrant to your home?

In an emergency, every second counts. Fire hydrants that are blocked, concealed, or difficult to access due to snow or ice can and will impede emergency fire response.

Make sure your fire hydrant is clear of snow and ice!
