City of Plymouth Partners with SCEDC to Bring 94 New Homes to the Community

In late March, the City of Plymouth finalized a development agreement with the Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation (SCEDC) to build 94 new single-family homes in a subdivision off Highland Avenue, just south of Plymouth Furniture and St. Vincent de Paul. This is the third subdivision under the SCEDC’s Housing Initiative, supported by the Forward Fund. The fund was created to address the need for more affordable entry-level homes in Sheboygan County. It’s backed by $2 million donations from Johnsonville, Kohler Co., Masters Gallery Foods, and Sargento, along with $2 million in federal ARPA funds from Sheboygan County.

To support the project, the City of Plymouth is contributing $2 million from the Housing Increment Fund, which was created through the extension of TID #4. The Housing Increment Fund will be repaid over time through the new property taxes generated by the development. Mayor Pohlman said "I am pleased with the wonderful partnership between the City of Plymouth and the SCEDC to bring much-needed housing to our community. We look forward to construction beginning soon and to this being one of the many projects in our newly created TID #7. These homes address a market need identified in our recent housing study and represent a signature economic development project that will drive continued community growth!" Construction is expected to begin in 2026.

Evergreen Golf Course Opening!

The Evergreen Golf Course is anticipated to open Friday, May 9 depending on weather. The course will be open daily 8 AM - 8 PM.

Campfire Safety

As the warmer months bring families and friends together in parks, forests, and backyards, the Plymouth Fire Department reminds everyone that campfire safety is essential to prevent wildfires, property damage, and injury.

Please follow these important campfire safety guidelines to help protect our community and natural environment:

BEFORE YOU LIGHT A CAMPFIRE:

  • Check for local fire restrictions or bans.
  • Use designated fire pits or rings.
  • Choose a safe site—at least 15 feet from tents, shrubs, trees, and anything flammable.
  • Clear a 10-foot area around the fire pit, free of dry leaves, grass, and debris.
  • Have a shovel, water bucket, or fire extinguisher ready.

🔥 WHILE THE FIRE IS BURNING:

  • Never leave a campfire unattended.
  • Keep fires small and manageable.
  • Only burn wood. Do not burn trash, plastics, or accelerants like gasoline.
  • Closely supervise children and pets.
  • Be mindful of wind. Strong gusts can carry embers far beyond the fire ring.

🧯 WHEN YOU’RE DONE:

  • Drown the fire with water—not just the flames, but the embers too.
  • Stir the ashes and douse them again until everything is cool to the touch.
  • Never leave a fire until it is completely out.

🚨 REMEMBER:

Even a small spark can cause a devastating wildfire. By following these campfire safety tips, you help protect our community, first responders, and the natural beauty we all enjoy.

If you see a wildfire or an unattended fire, call 911 immediately.

Stay safe and fire-aware,

Ryan Pafford, Fire Chief
