County Committee Recommends Poulsbo Fire CARES Program for 2022 Funding. The City of Poulsbo/Poulsbo Fire Department CARES Program was recently recommended, by a Citizens’ Advisory Committee, for 2022 “Treatment Tax” funding. City of Poulsbo residents pay a one tenth of one percent tax to support programs, county wide, that help people with mental health and substance use issues. Commissioners will make final decisions about this award on November 8-and it would be great to see funding directed our successful local program. The team has helped over 200 area residents this year connect to support services. https://cityofpoulsbo.com/poulsbo-fire-cares/
New Poulsbo-Port Gamble S’Klallam Partnership begins. Speaking of partnerships—Housing Health and Human Services, Poulsbo Police Department, and Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe are coming together to start a new service on November 1 to assist people struggling with drug and alcohol use. A “Success Coach” will be available by phone, four nights a week, to help people with substance use issues who interact with Poulsbo and PGST Police. We hope this after hours service will help some people connect to the help they need--and we are so proud to add a peer to our behavioral health team.
Flu Shots. It is flu season again and H3 encourages residents—especially with the threat of COVID-to get their flu vaccines. Doctors offices, pharmacies, and big box stores are offering flu vaccines throughout the area, and the City will be working with RiteAid, mid month, to offer a drive up service.
