County of Riverside Health Officials Respond to Second Dose Questions
Riverside County health officials will contact those who received first dose at county clinics for second dose appointment. Participants must register and have an appointment to get vaccinated
For those who received a first dose at a county vaccine clinic (also called points of distribution or PODs), local health officials will reach out to residents through the contact method provided at the first appointment. At that time, the County will provide instructions for receiving the second dose conforming to the current CDC guideline on timeframes. Residents who received their first dose at private provider, should contact that same provider to schedule their second dose.
Current CDC guidelines allow up to 42 days for a second dose with either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine and due in part to limited vaccine supply from the state, it may not be possible to get a second dose at the 21 or 28 day mark originally recommended.
The County understands the community’s concern about getting the second dose and constantly works on securing additional doses from the state. At the same time, officials want residents to get vaccinated with at least a first dose for those within the current phase and tier system.

Eisenhower Health has begun scheduling vaccinations for people 75 and older. As a reminder, Eisenhower can only vaccinate as many people as there are doses available and the supply of vaccine is still arriving somewhat sporadically.

|
The County of Riverside will open additional COVID-19 vaccination clinics and appointments will be available later this week. The City will send out updated information as it is received.
Click here for County of Riverside Public Health January 29, 2021 update on vaccination administration rate.
Due to the high traffic of residents attempting to make appointments, you may have experienced issues with the County’s new vaccine website and, as a result, many of you may have received an error message when attempting to link to the State website. County of Riverside staff are working diligently to manage the huge demand and expectations, given a limited supply stream.
In an effort to better assist residents with vaccination appointments, the County is now directing residents to the State of California site at Calvax.org for actual appointments.
Those 65 and older who need assistance making an appointment can call the Riverside County Office of Aging at (800) 510-2020 or dial 2-1-1 for the Riverside County 24-hour, 365-day per year Call & Referral Center.

Rancho Mirage Non-Profit Continues to Serve Special Needs Families
United Cerebral Palsy Inland Empire
"Team Freedom"
|
|
Since 1985, United Cerebral Palsy of the Inland Empire (UCPIE) has provided programs and services to children and adults with autism, down syndrome, cerebral palsy and other special needs; and last year the services did not cease. UCPIE staff quickly adapted to change and created a PPE distribution program in addition to producing a completely virtual educational program serving both Riverside and San Bernardino Counties.
Even during the pandemic and social disruptions, UCPIE remained committed to their mission to provide a "life without limits" to people with disabilities. For the entire month of February, UCPIE, would like to invite you to ride, walk or become a sponsor for UCPIE's Team Freedom.
|
|
UCPIE Team Freedom consists of children and adults with physical and developmental disabilities. Created by UCPIE in 2012, Team Freedom started with just one rider and now has over 100 special needs kids and adults riding/walking the Tour de Palm Springs. This year will be unlike any other as everyone will all be virtually walking/riding in small groups in our local neighborhoods. We can't all ride together, but together we can all virtually ride to make a positive difference!
To learn about ways to get involved with UCPIE's mission, please contact UCPIE's Development & Communications Manager, Sandra Gramajo
