Fiscal Year 2017 Tax & Lien Information
The fiscal year 2016 tax year is coming to a close soon; however, the work for the Finance Department does not end. This begins the tax lien cycle for those that have not paid their 2016 taxes in full. On June 9, 2017, the finance department will be mailing out the 30 Day Lien notices via certified mail. Those who have not paid their 2017 tax bill in full will receive an individual certified letter for each property that is past due. There will also be the added cost of the mailer plus interest and fees!
If there is still a past due amount as of July 18th, 2017, a lien will be filed at the York County Registry of Deeds on July 19th, 2017. True copies of the lien are sent to mortgage companies and interested parties informing them that a lien has been filed on the property.
Please call the finance department at 282-1032 with any questions concerning this process. The Deputy Tax Collector, Denise Pendleton, can be reached at the same number for more information.
