BIA's Urban Council, along with coalition partners, will be submitting a letter to the City of San Diego addressing proposed code amendments aimed at updating San Diego's historical resources regulations.
City of San Diego: FY 2026 Work Program
Members should be advised that the City of San Diego Planning Department has made public their FY2026 work program, which outlines an ambitious list of initiatives they expect to undertake. While many of these are active priorities for the BIA currently, we anticipate engaging on a number of new items including: an update to the inclusionary housing policy; decarbonization plan; and streets manual, among other things. Please let us know if there are any items included in the list that are important to you so that we may follow up. We are of course tracking LDC, HRB reform and the plans as well.
At last week’s City of San Diego Planning Commission meeting the Planning Commission room was dedicated to Edric Doringo, it will now be known as ‘The Edric’ room. Many comments were made about Edric’s character. Edric was patient, kind and wise, he could always find a way to get ‘it’ done. He looked out for the little guy, he treated everyone with dignity and respect. He is still missed by many. Our BIA continues to award the Edric Doringo award to a public servant that goes above and beyond to facilitate a solution that works for everyone. Every time we discuss who is worthy of the award our members are emotionally attached to the meaning of the award. To receive the Edric Doringo award is truly an indication of outstanding work and work ethic.
Utility (Summer) Boot Camp
Where does our water come from? How much do we pay for it? Do we have enough?
Can the state electrify everything? Can SDG&E handle the load? How does that affect building homes?
Join us for a panel discussion with key speakers from the San Diego County Water Authority and SDG&E for our Utility Boot (SUMMER) Camp.
