Vendor Open House Welcomes 162 Attendees

On November 13, 2023, the City held its first Vendor Virtual Open House. This event was advertised on the City’s website and through LinkedIn. Vendors were invited to learn more about doing business with the City of Santa Cruz.

During the event, the Purchasing Division gave an overview of purchasing at the City of Santa Cruz, provided insight on how to do business with the city, and provided training on how to register to be a vendor in the city’s new eProcurement Portal OpenGov. The Risk Management Division provided training on insurance requirements, and representatives from the Public Works, Water, and Parks and Recreation Departments presented on upcoming solicitations that they planning to issue in the future.

162 vendors attended the event and in a post-survey shared feedback regarding the event. Below are some of the comments given by attendees:

  • "I liked the flow of the event and how each presenter described their roles in the contract process. I feel like the event was well organized and flowed from one presenter to the next."

  • “I liked getting to hear each department’s perspective of the process.”

  • “It was straightforward, clear, and well organized.”

Vendors who are interested in learning how to do business with the City of Santa Cruz are encouraged to visit the city’s Selling to the City webpage.

The Town Clock Plaza is a great public gathering spot for all to enjoy and represents the northern gateway to our downtown shopping district. Stop by and take a moment to see the lights next time you’re downtown!
