Youth Workforce Development

The Governing Body has approved a work-based learning program developed between the City of Santa Fe’s Office of Economic Development and Youth and Family Services Division in partnership with Santa Fe Public Schools (SFPS). The program will utilize $797,600 from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) the City received for youth workforce development, mentorship, and job training. Santa Fe is the only city in New Mexico to utilize these funds in partnership with public schools.

The new initiative will consist of paid internship programs for youth interested in arts-based, trades, and diversified industries leadership opportunities.

We're the Best (again)!

MovieMaker Magazine has released its rankings for "Best Places to Live and Work as a Movie Maker 2023" – and Santa Fe is #1 on the list of small cities and towns!

(Albuquerque and Las Cruces also made it into the rankings. Way to go, New Mexico!)

New Economic Development Director

Johanna Nelson is our new Office of Economic Development Director! She is a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) by the International Economic Development Council, and has worked in the field in both the public and private sectors for almost 20 years. Prior to joining the City, she spent 7.5 years as the Strategic Programs and Development Manager at the State of NM Economic Development Department. We're glad to have Johanna on Team Santa Fe!

Affordable Housing Funding

The Office of Affordable Housing is offering funds to organizations working on affordable housing activities for Santa Fe residents with low and moderate incomes. Two requests for application are available for Community Development Block Grant and Affordable Housing Trust Fund funds to support organizations serving community members and providing housing services. Parks Division Crews At Work

We snagged a few shots of our Parks and Open Space Division crews in action around the city: removing holiday garlands from around the Plaza (left photo), and collecting leaf litter piles from Salvador Perez Park (right photo)! This team works hard year-round to clean up, install equipment, make repairs, and ensure outdoor recreation opportunities are available for all members of our community. Kudos to our Parks crews!!

New Community Gallery Art

The Santa Fe Community Gallery will have a new exhibit on display next Friday! The ArtWorks Works! Student Art Exhibition features over 100 works of art by Santa Fe Public School students, and will be available to view for free during gallery hours from January 27 through March 3, 2023. The Arts and Culture Department will also host a gallery opening next Friday, January 27, from 5 to 7 p.m.
