Burning Amnesty Granted for Christmas Eve

Santa Fe Fire Department Chief Brian Moya and Fire Marshal Geronimo Griego have granted city-wide amnesty for farolito and luminaria burning starting at sundown on Christmas Eve and ending at dawn on Christmas Day. Usually, open burning without a permit is prohibited under the City’s Fire Code. This temporary seasonal amnesty extends throughout the city for community members to celebrate the holiday!

Teen Center Family Night Fun

The Santa Fe Teen Center hosted its first family night on Friday, Dec. 15 (holiday edition)! Attendees decorated cookies, sang karaoke, and crafted their own delicious winter beverages at the hot cocoa bar. Thanks to everyone who joined us and stay tuned for more family nights in 2024!

Toy Drive Reaches 5,000 Goal

The Northern New Mexico Toy Drive has officially collected (and delivered) enough donations to reach their goal of helping 5,000 children in the community this holiday season. The annual drive, started by a City firefighter over a decade ago, has now grown to a multi-county effort supported by many community partners, including several City of Santa Fe departments. Kudos to all!

New Traffic Plan on Beckner

Beckner Road has reopened with a modified traffic plan as of this morning! The road, which had been closed for construction on a nearby development, has reopened with a modified traffic plan for safety until a signal can be installed at the intersection of Beckner/Richards Ave. Click here to download a graphic of the plan.

Las Estrellas Opportunity #2

The Community Development Department has released the second of two solicitations aimed at attracting potential bidders for the development of a vibrant mixed-use, mixed-income, multigenerational neighborhood in the 550-acre Las Estrellas subdivision.

The Invitation to Bid (ITB) seeks bids from qualified developers to purchase the seven City-owned tracts—appraised at just over $5 million and totaling 228.5 acres—and to develop market rate, affordable, and senior housing, as well as open and recreational space and retail, office, and other commercial units.

2024 Inauguration Ceremony

Friday, December 29 | 10 a.m. to noon

Santa Fe Convention Center

Next friday, community members are invited to the Santa Fe Convention Center to celebrate the inauguration of Municipal Judge Chad Chittum, District 1 Councilor Alma Castro, District 3 Councilor Pilar Faulkner, and returning District 4 Councilor Jamie Cassutt and District 2 Councilor Michael Garcia. The City will also recognize and say farewell to Municipal Judge Virginia Vigil, District 3 Councilor Chris Rivera, and District 1 Councilwoman Renee Villarreal.

A reception will follow the ceremony and refreshments will be served!
