There's a lot going on in the City Different!
|
|
RAISES ALL AROUND! The new fiscal year budget is in effect and that means City employees will gain the equivalent of a 4 percent increase in pay and benefits. In addition, the budget covers $2.3 million of increases in the cost of health care, with no added expense to employees. There's also money dedicated to employee education, training, and safety equipment. The workforce is also expanding in strategic ways: Many vacancies are being filled and new positions are being added in several departments to increase the City's capacity to provide improved, modernized services to residents, visitors, and businesspeople. The City is hiring! Find opportunities here, and share the news.
RECRUITING POLICE OFFICERS: In FY21 the Police Department hired 11 experienced lateral police officers, with a $15,000 hiring incentive being one of the driving forces to encourage candidates to join the Santa Fe Police Department.
The Department continues to seek experienced lateral police officers to join the team by renewing its limited-time offer of a $15,000 hiring incentive for experienced lateral police officers. Lateral officers will receive $7,500 upon hire and $7,500 upon completion of a 1-year probation. In addition to the hiring incentive, lateral police officers still receive 160 hours of leave upon hire. Learn more about recruiting efforts here.

MAYOR'S NOTE:
Moving Ahead,
Coming Together
|
July 1 marked the start of a new fiscal year, the opening up of the state and some new and hopeful steps for the City and our community.
As we gear up, we’ll be opening up City Hall and other facilities, implementing well-deserved 4 percent raises for all our employees, and aggressively recruiting police officers.
Another big step forward: There is now a recommended consultant to guide our CHART Process. This is the next step in the community-wide conversation and healing effort that was adopted and co-sponsored by the entire Governing Body. The contract will go to City Council committees starting next week and the Governing Body is expected to vote on it July 14.
I urge everyone who loves Santa Fe to sign up for updates on the CHART webpage and to join the process when it gets underway. Together, we can learn from our past to create a better future.
Follow the CHART process here.

In the interests of maintaining public health and safety and managing human resources during this transitional period, the City has been taking a measured approach to resuming in-person services and opening City facilities and buildings to the workforce and the public. That process is about to accelerate. Two of our libraries open their doors to the public on Wednesday, July 7, and, starting July 12, City office buildings will be open to the public during normal hours of operation from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Find more details about schedules here.

Medians, Mowers, Maintenance
|
Five hundred and seventy-five medians, 118 miles of roadway, and five hardworking Parks employees. Acting Parks Division Director Melissa McDonald and her median-maintenance crew explain their strategies for taking care of Santa Fe's medians while prioritizing safety on busy roadways in this new video. (They get started early.) Take a look at the maintenance tracker to see where the team is headed next.

According to a Resolution adopted by the Governing Body, the sale or use of aerial and ground-audible fireworks is temporarily prohibited within City limits. To report violations, call (505) 428-3710 — and be prepared to provide the exact address where the violations are taking place. Persons making a complaint may do so anonymously. Firefighters reinforce the safety messages here and here.
