City, State Working Together to Move Critical Projects Forward

This week, Mayor Alan Webber and other city leaders met with Governor Lujan Grisham and Senate Majority Leader Peter Wirth to strategize over ways in which the city and state can work together to move city priorities forward and identified four critical beautification projects for which the leaders have pledged to expedite the funding process to ensure swift commencement of the work. The four projects include improvements to SWAN Park, extending the Tierra Contenta Trail, Sidewalk and lighting improvements along Harrison Road, and median beautification projects. Progress Patching Potholes

Our Public Works/Streets team has run the numbers on pothole repairs for the first month of 2024! Over the last four weeks, in between snow storms and during both day shifts and two overnight shifts earlier this week, they've completed 417 pothole repairs around the city (and counting)! Kudos to our hard-working crews!

Welcome to Our New Officers

This week, Experienced Police Officers Maureen Lujan and Dominic Lopez were issued their badges by Chief Joye and sworn in by the Honorable Judge Chad Chittum after taking their oaths of office. Congratulations and welcome to our new officers!

SFWA Seeking Volunteers

Our non-profit partner, the Santa Fe Watershed Association, is gearing up for field trip season and looking for volunteers for the My Water, My Watershed program! This experiential, science-based program for fifth grade Santa Fe Public School students gives youth a unique opportunity to study and explore the upper watershed of the Santa Fe River. Adult volunteers will act as chaperones and assist with student activities during the trip. Learn more on the SFWA website.

Apply to Join the Independent Salary Commission

The City is seeking applicants for the Independent Salary Commission to set the salary for the City’s next full-time mayor. The Commission’s sole purpose is to review and set the mayor's salary, pursuant to Article 6.02(D) of the Santa Fe Municipal Charter.

The Commission is appointed by the City’s Ethics and Campaign Review Board rather than by the Mayor or the Governing Body to avoid conflicts of interest.

Nominees must be able to exercise sound and practical judgement as members of the commission. The Commission will meet several times in March and April to determine the next mayor’s salary by the end of April.

The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2024.
