We’ve always known it, but now it’s official: TIME has included Santa Fe on its list of 100 World’s Greatest Places 2021. Our Tourism Department estimates that 18 million readers could see this article. In other words, this kind of publicity should make us all proud—and is also likely to boost our economy.
This summer we also happen to be showcasing what's so spectacular about Santa Fe. No sooner does the Folk Art Market pull up stakes than the Spanish markets set up for this weekend. AMP Concerts is putting on a wonderful series of free shows on the Plaza and on the Southside. There’s flamenco dancing that dazzles at The Lodge and the Fire Department is making Saturdays come alive for the kids. In August we're partnering with the world-renown Santa Fe Opera to offer free screenings of "Opera in the Park" in Villa Linda Park; Indian Market, Fiestas and Zozobra are all headed our way.
So here’s a heartfelt "Viva Santa Fe!"
And here's a word of caution: The Delta variant is out there. To enjoy the bounty of this summer, we all need to stay safe from COVID. Get vaccinated if you haven’t yet. Tell friends and family to take appropriate precautions to keep each other safe. The way we take care of each other is one more reminder that we live in one of the world’s greatest places.
