Recap: Special Meeting for Ballot Measures

On Tuesday, Aug. 22, the Governing Body held a special meeting to vote on all ballot measures to be considered for the November 7, 2023 election. The following measures were approved:


  • A measure proposing a high-end excise tax on the transfer of certain residential property and dedicating the revenue to the affordable housing trust fund.
  • A measure amending the City Charter to reduce signature requirements for citizens to bring forward referenda/initiatives for a vote.
  • A measure amending the City Charter to specify the Charter Commission's appointment, terms, and functions.

Teen Night: Movies in the Park

Thanks to all the teens who joined us last Friday for our Teen Night: Movies in the Park Edition (and a few "almost" teens too)! We had so much fun – stay tuned for more info about our upcoming Teen Night in September!

Reminder: River Talks 2023

There are just two events left in the 2023 River Talks series! Sponsored by the City and the Santa Fe River Commission, these free and educational presentations/tours are a chance to learn more about our river, watershed, fireshed, and other related topics. SFFD Engine 3 Pushback Event

Earlier this week, we stopped by Fire Station 3 for the Pushback Ceremony for Rescue Engine 3! This engine has been specifically built to support in rescue missions and features a clean cab design. It was so great to see everyone supporting our wonderful Santa Fe Fire Department!

"Climate Matters" Radio Show

Have you heard about the monthly sustainability radio show, "Climate Matters," hosted by our Sustainability Officer Neal Denton? On the latest episode, Neal spoke with our Office of Economic Development team about their work to build pathways into good jobs, including clean energy jobs!


Listen to the recording to learn about how the City is working to upskill and reskill workers into quality, high-demand jobs made possible by investments from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), with a focus on supporting workers from historically underserved and underrepresented communities.


"Climate Matters" airs every fourth Wednesday on KSWV Radio (99.9 FM) at 8:30 a.m.

Closure Information for Zozobra and Labor Day


Zozobra and the Labor Day holiday weekend are just around the corner! The Fort Marcy Recreation Complex and nearby dog park and pickleball courts will close for Zozobra preparations in advance of the event and remain closed until cleanup is complete. City offices and facilities will be closed on Monday, September 4, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Click here for detailed info about the closures, and let’s all plan for a safe, fun holiday weekend! 


Residential trash and recycling collection will also be on a holiday schedule for the week of September 4 to 8 (see graphic).
