Highlights from the Week of August 23, 2021
There's a lot going on in the City Different!
Apply to Join the CHART Team
Here's a reminder that residents of the city and county are invited to apply to join the team that will conduct the project for Culture, Healing, Art, Reconciliation, and Truth. Under the direction of project leaders Artful Life, this team of paid, part-time facilitators will work from September through May of next year. High school students may apply for paid internships. The deadline for applications is midnight, Wednesday, September 1. For information and applications visit the CHART Santa Fe website. All residents are encouraged to sign up for notifications about CHART.
Coffee With a Cop
Last evening the Starbucks on southern Cerrillos Road hosted another convivial and enlightening Coffee with a Cop event. Any coffee-serving establishment that would like to host a Coffee with a Cop event may contact Crime Prevention Officer Erica Montoya: edmontoya@santafenm.gov or (505) 955-5282.
Supporting the Food Depot
The Food Depot has provided invaluable sustenance to Santa Feans experiencing food insecurity during the pandemic. The Neighbor to Neighbor Fund Drive provides critical support for the organization; it is currently underway through September 18. Learn how to participate and contribute here. Each dollar donation provides four meals to neighbors in need!
Zozobra Warmup Stories
The Santa Fe Public Library invites one and all to learn some of the lore behind Zozobra before the festivities get underway. Historian Andrew Lovato, author of "Zozobra's Great Escape," will be telling stories at the Southside Library at 3 p.m. on Friday, September 3. For something completely different, tomorrow at 1 p.m. sociologist Dr. Tara Lopez will present on "Punk Rock in the Southwest." Find details for those events and more at santafelibrary.org.
