City of Santa Fe

Weekly Wrap

Highlights from the Week of January 9, 2023

Gateways for Growth Grant Award

Santa Fe has been selected by the American Immigration Council and Welcoming America as a 2023 recipient of the Gateways for Growth (G4G) grant, which aims to help deploy inclusive economic research and multi-sector welcoming plans for immigrants in the awardee's community. Santa Fe is one of 8 other local communities nationwide selected for the 2023 cohort and joins a network of more than 70 localities across 35 states participating in the initiative.

The competitive G4G grant provides funding for communities to receive research support, technical assistance, and/or matching grant funds to improve immigrant inclusion in their communities. The City's Office of Economic Development and Somos Un Pueblo Unido, an immigrant worker center and long-standing partner of the City, have pledged funds to match the G4G grant. Learn more here.

Be a Community Storyteller

The Santa Fe Public Library and Littleglobe are offering a free training program in storytelling and video production for Santa Feans who are interested in exploring their own stories to contribute to the Community Storytellers Project. Participants will learn basic skills of storytelling and video production to create a 5-6 minute short video that will be archived with SFPL, and a $500 stipend is available for those who fulfill the program requirements. Apply by Jan. 22!

Snowstorms & Snow Removal

Have you seen snow in the forecast? The winter snowpack is crucial for our water supply, but storms also pose safety hazards, especially on roadways. Before a storm hits, city crews spring into action to prepare roadways and reduce ice accumulation. During and after the snowfall, they work continuously to clear priority arterials and ensure access for police, fire, and other emergency vehicles. Click to learn more about how this process works, and what you can do to help!
