New Art on Display

A sculpture of Huehueteotl sits cross-legged on a display table in the entrance to the Southside Santa Fe Public Library.

A new sculpture by artist Hernan Gomez Chavez’s is now on display at the Southside Santa Fe Public Library. Chavez’s life-sized figure of Huehueteotl, or “Old God,” was created during his time at an artist residency in Puebla, Mexico. This project was sponsored by the City of Santa Fe's Art and Culture Department through the Arquetopia Artist in Residence Program. Huehueteotl, or “Old God,” is an Aztec god of fire, thought to be the creator of all life.

Stop by the Southside Library anytime during regular business hours to see the sculpture! Huehueteotl will be on display through Saturday, January 20, 2024.
