Sustainability Goals, Measured

This week, the City went live with a new sustainability dashboard! The dashboard shows how the City is making progress on implementing the Sustainable Santa Fe 25-Year Plan, which established strategies to achieve carbon neutrality, improve quality of life and social equity, enhance ecological resilience, and strengthen the economy.

The new dashboard features an updated 2021 greenhouse gas inventory and will serve as a powerful storytelling tool to enhance transparency and empower Santa Feans to gain firsthand knowledge about how the City and the greater Santa Fe community are working toward a carbon-neutral future. Midtown Moving Forward

The Midtown Master Plan and companion Community Development plan are in the final phase of commission and committee review before an expected vote by the Governing Body on November 30.

Archangel Raphael Restored

A new sculpture of the Archangel Raphael has been installed along the East Alameda walking path (next to the Santa Fe River). Created by artist Jose L. Lucero, Raphael is one of seven wooden angel sculptures that were originally commissioned by the Arts and Culture Department in 2004. The artworks are hand-carved out of wood and hand-painted with natural pigments. Thank you to everyone who helped return Raphael to his post along the walkway!

Hooray – New Tennis Courts!

On Thursday, City officials, staff, and community members celebrated the completion of the new tennis courts at Herb Martinez Park. Part of a major renovation project that launched this year and included courts at Larragoite and Atalaya, the new courts are expected to have a 20-year lifespan with minimal maintenance costs. The Parks Division secured $1.3 million dollars through GRT funds and impact fees for the work.

SFFD Hires, Puts Out Fires

The Santa Fe Fire Department officially welcomed four new lateral hires to the team with a swearing-in ceremony on November 8. Then, two days later, the Department quickly and effectively coordinated a response to a structure fire in an unoccupied commercial building near the downtown area, containing the incident and ensuring the safety of surrounding areas. It's all in a week's work for SFFD – thank you for all that you do!

Get Involved on Tuesday

On Tuesday, Nov. 15, community members have two different opportunities for involvement in City projects and planning: (1) Attend the Santa Fe Water 2100 webinars, hosted by the Water Division, to discuss water resources and planning for this century. (2) Give feedback on plans to improve the downtown Transit Center during a public meeting facilitated by Public Works.
