Highlights from the Week of January 30, 2023
 

Cat Saved During SFFD Fire Call

The Santa Fe Fire Department found a furry friend in their care after responding to a structure fire call on Thursday morning. Rescue Tech Squibb, on Engine 3, located the family pet inside the building and brought it outside and away from danger. Firefighter Ruggles then administered treatment to the cat.


No people or crew were injured in the fire, which is still under investigation. Thank you to SFFD for their efforts on this call!

National Mayoral

Fellowship Training
 

This week, Mayor Alan Webber is participating in the 2023 Mayor’s Institute on City Design (MICD) Just City Mayoral Fellowship, an intensive training focusing on building justice into the policies and structures within mayoral administrations. He is part of a small group of mayors and their staff from across the U.S. invited to take part in the sessions in early 2023!

Supporting Early Childcare

The Office of Economic Development has applied and been accepted to join the National League of Cities’ (NLC) City Inclusive Entrepreneurship (CIE) Network with a commitment to an Early Childcare Entrepreneurship project. The commitment can bring in over $15,000 of funding and resources to implement new programs in the community and includes one-on-one technical assistance and access to a national network of experts.
 

Munis Upgrade Complete

The City has completed a major upgrade of Munis, the software system that handles purchasing, payments, hiring processes, and more. The upgrade implements the latest technology to support our staff and those doing business with the City, improve user experience, and ensure modern, efficient, and effective processes. Kudos to the ITT team, Human Resources, and Finance for all their hard work on this project!
 

Pick Up Two on Tuesdays

Our non-profit partner Keep Santa Fe Beautiful has launched their "Two on Tuesday" campaign to encourage us all to do our part to tackle litter. The idea is simple: on Tuesdays, take two minutes to pick up two pieces of litter and dispose of them properly! Or, pick up one piece of litter at two different times. Or two handfuls. Or, bring two friends! Or... well, you get the idea. Join KSFB for Two on Tuesday next week!
 

Youth Program Hiring Events

The Recreation Division is holding a series of Youth Summer Program hiring events for local high school students 16 years and older. The positions will assist in providing and conducting recreational, instructional, and educational programs and activities for children ages 6-12 during the summer (May 30 through the last week of July). Click for details!
