City of Santa Fe

Weekly Wrap

Highlights from the Week of October 31, 2022

'Round the New Roundabout

Last week, City officials and project stakeholders celebrated the completion of the new Camino Entrada Roundabout. The improvements included: construction of a concrete curb and gutter, full pavement reconstruction, permanent signs and striping, bicycle and pedestrian improvements, roundabout lighting, and signal improvement. The roundabout is also expected to increase safety and enhance service with the eventual addition of the Southside Transit Center.

Celebrating La Farge's Harvest

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate fall and the first growing season in the Children's Garden at the La Farge Branch Library last weekend! We loved seeing all the creative costumes and smiling faces during storytime. Our libraries are for more than just books – they're community spaces with something for all ages to enjoy. If you missed it, check out the calendar to find one of the many events happening at all the Library's branches in the coming weeks!

It's Time to Winterize

October 31 marked the end of Santa Fe's irrigation season. Outdoor vegetation is going dormant and with winter just around the corner, outdoor landscapes no longer needs regular watering. It's time to shut down irrigation systems, disconnect hoses and empty those rain barrels too! When it does snow, remember it's also a good idea to shovel that extra moisture from hard-packed surfaces onto nearby vegetation for a winter-water boost.

New Addition to Ft. Marcy Park

The Parks and Open Space Division would like to thank Tomas Lipps for his work on the creation of this new stone bench at Fort Marcy Park. Organizer of the 2022 Stoneworks Symposium, Lipps coordinated a group of stonemasons and artists to design and create the new installation for the park as a donation to the City. The attractive and functional bench is located near the existing playground and picnic shelter at Ft. Mary.

Preparing for Plaza Lighting

Community members of all ages are invited to join us for the Santa Fe Plaza Holiday Lighting on Friday, November 25. Festivities will begin at 4:30 p.m. More details to follow, but in the meantime, keep an eye out for our hard-working crews on the Plaza as they hang the 30,000+ LED lights used for the celebration over the coming weeks!

There's a lot going on in the City Different!
