There's a lot going on in the City Different!
Drive-in Vaccinations are Here!
Today was a beautiful Spring day in Santa Fe, and the happiest place in town was the Midtown campus, where CHRISTUS St. Vincent held the first of several drive-through vaccination events. Over 800 people had gotten shots by around 11 o'clock, so they were well on the way to the goal of vaccinating some 2,000 people today alone. Eleven similar events are scheduled through the end of the May.

Mayor Webber attended the event with Lillian Montoya, President and CEO of CHRISTUS St. Vincent, and Brian Williams, the City's Acting Emergency Management Director, who is helping to coordinate logistics on the site. The Police and Fire Departments are also pitching in, directing traffic and providing medical support.

Event codes from the Department of Health are required, so people still have to register. CHRISTUS is also doing walk-in vaccinations at the hospital. Anyone 45+ can call (505) 913-3080 to schedule an appointment.

"It's like a community celebration," said Ms. Montoya. "But we still have to continue honoring safe practices and wearing masks even after we've been vaccinated. There's no harm in being safe, there's only harm in not being safe."

The New Budget: Building Back Better

For the next two weeks, we're going to be telling a story of responding, rebalancing, and rebuilding. It's called the Fiscal Year 2022 Budget.

We went through a tough year since the drafting of the last budget. We tightened our belts. We took some hits. But through it all, we showed resilience as a community. We worked, and kept the City running. We kept one another safe. And now we're coming out strong,

We're investing in our workforce, our neighborhoods, in our parks and recreation centers, in public health and safety, in every aspect of City services. We're planning ways to grow as a 21st-century city, while preserving our unique character and quality of life. We now have the resources and the ability to build back better, and as we do, we're going to keep Santa Fe, Santa Fe.

The Best of Santa Fe nominations are in, and we made it on the list in several categories: Best Park (Patrick Smith, Fort Marcy, Frank S. Ortiz, Rose, and Swan Parks); Best Hike/Bike/Walk Trail (Santa Fe River Trail); Best Business on the Southside (Southside Library). Applause please – and stay tuned for when voting begins in May!
Free Trash Day
The Santa Fe Solid Waste Management Agency will hold the annual Free Trash Day at BuRRT and the Caja Del Rio Landfill on Saturday, Apr. 17th. Long lines are expected for this popular event, so please be patient and adhere to COVID-safe protocols at both facilities. Recyclers should wait until Sunday or use another drop-off location on that day.

Budget Hearings
