Going For Gold In National
Water-Saving Challenge
It's officially Earth Month – and this month, Santa Feans have a chance to show how much they care about the planet on a national stage! The Tenth Annual Wyland National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation, a friendly competition between cities across the country to see which city can be the most water-wise, runs until April 30.

Join the challenge by making a series of simple pledges at mywaterpledge.com to use water more efficiently, reduce pollution, and save energy. It only takes one minute, and participants can win $3,000 toward their home utility payments, water saving fixtures, and hundreds of other prizes in daily drawings. Winners can also nominate a local charity to receive a 2021 Toyota Highlander Hybrid to serve the community.

Last year, residents across the country pledged to reduce their annual consumption of water by over one billion gallons, and Santa Fe placed fourth in its population category of 30,000-99,999 people. Help the City get first place this year by making (or renewing) your pledge online today!

Looking Back, Looking Ahead

Let’s take a moment as we end this week to pause and reflect.

This week we celebrate Passover and Holy Week. It’s a time for faith and for family. It’s a time to consider both loss and rebirth. It comes as we find our way forward as a community from a year where we have suffered hardship and now look ahead to healing.

The wellsprings of our faith traditions share a common teaching: “Love thy neighbor as thyself.” We are a family, a community of love and compassion. But we see far too much anger and hatred around us. This week especially, and in the year ahead, let us hold this teaching as our guide: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

Safe Routes to Parks
Got ideas for connecting parks, greens spaces, neighborhoods and schools on the south side? The Santa Fe MPO and the Railyard Park Conservancy have partnered on a Safe Routes to Parks grant (awarded in Jan 2021). They're actively seeking input from community members on the future of the south side trail network – learn more and get involved!
Shop Local (Or Sell Local)
The Santa Fe Marketplace is your ticket to online shopping with local retailers in our community – and they've just added capacity for listings from independent artists and craftspeople. The site is commission-free for both sellers and buyers, so you can be sure your dollars are going directly back into the community when you make a purchase!
Teaming Up To Spruce Up
Getting ready for spring means all-hands-on-deck, especially for City staff. The Santa Fe Police Department teamed up with the City's Parks Division to get Franklin Miles Park ready for the upcoming Little League Season. Staff is also working on medians, weeds, and street-sweeping to prepare for warmer weather – read more here.
Youth Summer Jobs
The Recreation Division is now hiring for summer youth jobs, including Summer Youth Aide, Summer Assistant Supervisor, and Summer Supervisor. Applications and additional job information can be found online on the City's job opportunities portal. Apply before the deadline of April 18th!
