Help Us Prevent Fires

Trailsclosed.jpg

ON SATURDAY, May 28, the City will take additional precautions to stop fires before they start by closing select trails to complement current federal and County restrictions. The closure applies to the following trails and trails systems:

  • The Dale Ball Trails (which are accessed off of Hyde Park Road, Cerro Gordo Road, Upper Canyon Road, and Camino Cruz Blanca, including the Atalaya and Dorothy Stewart trails);
  • The Sun Mountain Trail;
  • La Tierra Trails;
  • MX/BMX trails at La Tierra and the Metropolitan Recreation Complex (MRC)

We can all help prevent wildfires by adhering to current fire restrictionsabiding by the closures, and taking advantage of the City's robust network of inner-city trails, open spaces and parks that remain open for enjoyment over the weekend.

People Helping Puppies

Tuesday's overcast skies had us excited for rain – but for three puppies who'd found themselves stuck in a storm drain, a downpour would have been bad news. Luckily, the Santa Fe Police Department's Animal Control and Santa Fe Fire Department's Engine 8 C-shift were quick to spring into action, and the puppies were rescued from the drain without incident. Great work team, and thank you to all!

Sponsorship Helps Residents Secure Tax Refunds

This spring, the City’s Office of Economic Development (ED) sponsored Tax Help Santa Fe LLC to help Santa Fe residents prepare and submit their taxes for 2021. The sponsorship allowed Tax Help Santa Fe to offer tax services on a sliding payment scale, and in some cases charge no fees at all. Over 6,000 residents participated, and the average payment for services was $47. ED plans to review renewing the sponsorship next year.
