Survey: Transit in Transition
|
As you commute to work or run errands, have you ever stopped to think about all the different parts of the City workforce that shape our transportation? Public Works manages traffic engineering, street maintenance, parking, and the Santa Fe Trails bus system; the Land Use Department manages the codes that provide design standards for roads, parking lots, and multi-use trails; and the Santa Fe Metropolitan Planning Organization coordinates long-range transportation planning.
All of these entities are now working together on a Multi-Modal Transition Plan, which will holistically consider strategies to improve walking, bicycling, transit, and parking management.
A key element of planning is public engagement to understand perceptions and needs of the public as they navigate Santa Fe. Read more about the plan and engagement opportunities on the newly created MMTP website.
To get involved now, take the MMTP public survey (available in English and Spanish), and you'll be entered into a raffle for $50 gift cards to Albertsons. We want to know how you feel about parking, taking the bus, walking, and biking around town. Your responses will be used to prioritize strategies to make Santa Fe better for everyone, no matter how they get around!

MAYOR'S NOTE:
Growing Greener
|
By Mayor Alan Webber
Let’s celebrate our journey toward a Sustainable Santa Fe! On Wednesday night we approved a project that started two years ago to solarize City buildings, install energy-efficient fixtures, and modernize our streetlights in a way that will preserve our dark skies.
Here’s what this one project does: We will reduce our water use by 2 million gallons per year, reduce electricity use by 9 million kilowatt hours per year, and eliminate 7,000 metric tons of CO2 per year. We’ll pay for these environmental improvements by achieving utility savings of $1.3 million per year.
Fighting climate change. Conserving water. Cutting energy use. Saving taxpayer dollars. All in one project. That’s how Santa Fe leads the way on sustainability. Thanks to everyone in our community who helped make it a better project and to Public Works Director Regina Wheeler for her leadership

Though City facilities are closed Memorial Day, it's an important occasion to salute the banners being hung on Cerrillos Road light poles in honor of our veterans. Much appreciation goes to Councilor Vigil Coppler, who spearheaded the Hometown Heroes project, and our City crews who installed them. Please note the Santa Fe Veterans Advisory Board is seeking members who wish to assist on veterans' issues. Applications are due June 11. Learn more here.

Get Ready for Fire Season
|
Wildland fire season has begun, and being prepared in the event of a fire is critical. The Fire Department has several tips for protecting your home from fire: clear gutters of foliage; limb trees to approximately 4 feet above the ground; clear the area around your house of trees/other growth. You can also schedule a free home assessment here.
