Highlights from the Week of February 14, 2022
There's a lot going on in the City Different!
Off-Duty But On the Job
Interim Chief Paul Joye and Captain Matthew Champlin honored Lieutenant Jimmie Montoya with a Letter of Commendation for his courageous acts during a violent encounter at a gas station. Lt. Montoya was off duty and not wearing body armor to protect himself, but he immediately jumped into action to prevent further violence and to apprehend a man who had discharged a handgun. Thank you, Lt. Montoya!
La Farge is Back in Business!
The La Farge Branch Library resumed
in-person service on Tuesday after COVID restrictions and staffing shortages closed its doors. Even so, SFPL staff did a fantastic job of providing curbside service during the worst of the pandemic.

Thank you to everyone that joined us for "Storytime With the Mayor" along with District 4 Councilors Jamie Cassutt and
Amanda Chavez in the children's Rainbow Room on Friday.
Job Training for At-Risk Youth
The City awarded local community partner YouthWorks a workforce development contract to provide services through their Workforce Innovation Program (WIP).
The contract extends until June 30, 2025, and YouthWorks projects a minimum of 240 young people will be served in the next four years through WIP, a partnership with the Community and Economic Development Department. Employers and those seeking training and placement can find details here.
