Highlights from the Week of February 7, 2022
There's a lot going on in the City Different!
Help Select the Next Police Chief
What qualities are you looking for in the next police chief? What should the next chief's priorities be? What does that person need to know about Santa Fe? What questions would you like to ask the candidates? Your survey responses will help inform the selection. Please take the survey (in English or Spanish) by February 25. Find the details on this page, share the link with your network, or pick up surveys at the libraries and recreation centers.
Test Kits To-Go and Onsite PCR
The City is now offering free take-home antigen test kits at various locations around town, and onsite PCR tests with two-hour results at Midtown. Residents and visitors may collect one kit per person (up to four per household), at the libraries, recreation centers, the Convention Center, and the Tourism information office on the south side of the Plaza at 66 East San Francisco St. Check this web page for locations and hours, and this page for information about vaccination and COVID-safety resources .
Trash and Recycling Rate Hike
On Feb. 9, the Governing Body voted unanimously to approve a rate increase for trash/recycling services for Environmental Services Division customers that will go into effect on March 1, 2022. The increase was based on a comprehensive cost of service study conducted by NewGen Strategies and Solutions, LLC, and is the first since 2016. Residential trash and recycling collection will increase $3.50/month. Residents who need of assistance on their utility bills can apply for the low-income credit program here.
LaFarge Resumes
In-person Service!
After nearly two years of closed doors and curbside service due to COVID-imposed restrictions and personnel shortages, the LaFarge Branch of the Santa Fe Public Library resumes in-person service on Tuesday, February 15. For now, the branch will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays. The beloved Midtown neighborhood institution has some new furnishings, features, and artwork to show off for the occasion.
