Highlights from the Week of February 21, 2022
There's a lot going on in the City Different!
Fire Prevention Starts with Kids
Our firefighters don't just respond to 911 calls – they also work hard to educate our community on fire safety and how to prevent fires in the first place! Rollin Jones from the Fire Prevention Office and crews from Station 4 recently visited the Santa Fe Children's Museum to read books, explore the fire truck, and talk about fire safety with the kids. They'll be there every first Thursday of the month at 1 PM if you'd like to join them for some fantastic hands-on learning!
Cast Your Vote for SF Favorites
We're in the running – again – for spots in the USA Today "10 Best" voters choice awards! Santa Fe is featured in not one but two contests: Best Farmers Market, and Best Art Museum. You can cast one vote a day for our beloved Santa Fe Farmers Market from now until the poll closes on Feb. 28, but you'll have to choose between THREE of our fantastic institutions for "Best Art Museum": MoCNA, MOIFA or Wheelwright Museum. Or, split your votes between all three – polls close on Mar. 14!
ITT Team Gains High Praise
"When hard-working people take extraordinary effort and work together as a gold-medal team for the safety of City of Santa Fe employees and constituents, recognition is due." So begins a letter to ITT Director Manuel Gonzales City regarding the timely completion of the e911 Project in December. Project Manager Joe Abeyta and his team networked every municipal location with the 911 system so first responders know exactly where to respond to emergencies. Kudos to the ITT Team!
Job Fair Extravaganza
Tomorrow, the City will be participating in not one but TWO job fairs: one for teens in partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Fe, and one for all ages in partnership with New Mexico Workforce Solutions. Both events take place at the Santa Fe Place Mall from 12 PM to 3 PM on Saturday, Feb. 26. The Teen Job Fair will focus on hiring for 2022 Summer Program positions; you can view other open positions in the city via the online job portal here.
