Fire Dept. Presents Award to Student for Heroic Actions

Today, Fire Chief Moya and a team from the Santa Fe Fire Department recognized the heroic actions of 4th-grader Haven Sewall-Peelor, whose quick-thinking helped save a fellow student at the May Center for Learning last week.

The student noticed a classmate choking and in distress, and acted quickly to perform the Heimlich maneuver, successfully expelling the foreign object and preventing any potential worse outcomes. The Fire Department presented the student with a certificate of recognition and commended him for his live-saving actions in front of his family, teachers, and fellow students.
